staying with who you are

when i got into the process of learning to shut the crap up, that constantly burbled through my head, i felt the inclination to become a budhist monk ,the urge was really very strong.

whilst still turning this idea over, one night i had a powerful dream, the dream was taking place in a budhist monastery,a fairly large group of monks including myself were sat down for the evening meal,i started banging my hand on the table ,one of the masters came over and asked what was wrong,i said” you wont let me into the monastery”,  ”come with me outside” he said “,i have something for you to see”.

Outside we stood on a small oriental bridge over a river, looking upstream he asked “what do you see”, i was watching several bodies seemingly at rest ,there hands placed on there chests, floating down the stream and under the bridge, the whole scene was very peaceful, one after another floated by,the master monk said” each body is you in a previous life, yes you could join the monastery, yet you would learn nothing ,time after time you have come back, for you to be separate from society and live as one of us would be simple, but the real lesson for you is to achieve the same goal amongst the chaos of everyday life”.

the dream ended and i woke up.

I understand what the teacher is saying here, and for me it makes sense, the craziness that is all around is an excellent classroom,it is a harsh environment, cruel, and very often so much of it is unnecessary, yet love and beauty and so many good things are also out there.

I would ,as i have in this lifetime ,look to bring in wisdom wherever it grows,be it from a silent teaching from Papua new Guinea ,the jungle of south america or an old man working in his garden,i care not who opens my eyes and in the past perhaps i have been a little mad in the way in which i have thrown myself into unknown areas and experiences,i have certainly been no angel in discovering what life holds.

I believe you cannot fly with the eagles if you have spent no time with the worms.

we have so little of the teachings of our elders in this day and age, rites of passage and the like are powerful useful tools, they are not lost, everything is still out there, the past has gone yes,but the essence of the energy of these tools is still here NOW ,it is useful to understand the movement of conciousness to a degree,we do not need to be given the whole picture , just enough to set us on our way ,we need to make mistakes,to learn about hurt , sadness, joy etc, but i feel most importantly we need to get back to guiding our children,  freeing them up from imposed ideas religions,if we are not careful we may be on the verge of creating a VIRTUAL,reality which stems from the brain and not from the mind.

So i am thankful to my  budhist teacher for setting me free of religion i am a being inside this body.I am happy,i am free.I am many colours,i am one.
